🔥 A simple approach to crypto investing 🚀
Popularity over Technical Analysis – it’s not trading.
I value the technicals and potential use cases of coins, but what I’ve noticed? Market hype often outshines solid tech, and that’s what led me to start The Hot Crypto List. Can’t trust mentions on twitter as they are skewed by bots and big accounts that use multipile accounts to flood CT with a barrage of posts. So eliminating that noise; eliminating single-coin-shillers, eliminating additional posts from the same account, eliminating copy-paste posts that copy popular lists for engagement but don’t actually indicate real confidence… and you end up with the HCL. A list of coins that individual, real, actual thinking people mention as their favourites, high confidence plays for the next bull run and what they are filling their bags with. These won’t contain the out-of-the-blue unicorn 1000x’er, but they will contain coins that will outperform the majority in the next run. Don’t follow an individual crypto-guru (who’s success story is highly curated to get you to follow them), don’t trust your gut feel based on your X / twitter feed; because that’s heavily influenced by the algorithm and you may find yourself in a corner of CT where you don’t get the full story.
New money will follow CT ‘advice’
You’ve seen it—coins that blow up on just the hint of an idea or because they became a meme overnight. It’s wild but true: hype can skyrocket a coin’s value faster than almost anything else. But this isn’t about chasing unicorns. It’s about solid, informed bets. I keep the bulk of my crypto in BTC and other big names but use the HCL to spot the up-and-comers mentioned more often than their market cap might suggest. I rebalance my portfolio based on this real momentum and confidence in these coins, not just gut feel. Low cap coins that get mentioned above-average much: I’ll load up on those. One coin of the list runs? Move some of the gains into another one that hasn’t yet.
Why Conventional Tools Don’t Cut It
Tools like LunarCrush or those trending lists on X don’t quite capture the real buzz. They log everything—big account reposts, bot chatter, the same old shillers hammering their favourite coin. It ends up giving a distorted view of what’s actually hot. Plus, there’s another snag—our own feeds. Thanks to social media algorithms, we’re often stuck in a bubble, seeing only what the system thinks we want to see, which can seriously warp our sense of what’s trending. That’s why I created The Hot Crypto List. I use an API that scrapes the entirety of X, unfiltered by any algorithm, ensuring that what I gather is an accurate reflection of the broader crypto dialogue, free from any algorithmic bias. All the hot lists from those posts get filtered for repeats, same posters, copy-pasters and then their picks get tallied and added to the list. Quickly you’ll see trends emerge, with coins appearing on many people’s list that don’t make it anywhere to the top of the conventional tools mentioned above.
Tailoring Your Strategy with THCL
Alright, let’s talk about how you can make THCL really work for you (**not financial advice, DYOR**), especially if you’re relatively new to this or you’re managing a smaller portfolio. Here’s the deal:
1. Manage Risk: Whether you’re just dipping your toes in or you’re ready to dive deep, the HCL lets you focus on the size of coins that fits your comfort zone. You can stick to the giants or chase the little guys with big potential. Just use the market cap filter.
2. Find Accessible Coins: I know how daunting it can be to navigate the waters of unknown exchanges, so I’ve made it simple. Use the filters to find coins that are available on the exchanges you already use. No need to sign up for a new platform unless you really want to.
3. Go for Gold—or Vintage: Not all coins are created equal. Some are new kids on the block while others have been around the block a few times. With the HCL, you can sort coins by their age—bet on fresh potential or opt for those with a proven track record. Of course, super new coins won’t easily make it on the the HCL, because it’s an aggregation of how many people talk about them. But the moment a newbie makes it to the list, it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
Rebalance my alt coins
I use The Hot Crypto List as a dynamic tool to periodically rebalance my portfolio. Here’s how it works: I keep an eye on the frequency and momentum of coin mentions—it’s like taking the pulse of market enthusiasm. When certain coins begin to get more mentions without a corresponding rise in market cap, I see an opportunity. Conversely, if a coin has had a substantial run and dominates the conversation, I might take some profits and reallocate them to those quieter coins that are starting to make noise but haven’t peaked yet. This strategy helps spread the risk and capitalize on new opportunities. Rebalancing isn’t just about capturing gains; it’s about staying agile, keeping the portfolio aligned with the latest market trends and community insights. It ensures I’m not left holding onto past winners too long, missing out on the next wave of potential high performers.
Building a Portfolio That Lasts
The HCL isn’t about following the crowd or a single guru’s predictions—it’s about smart, independent decisions. You know how it goes: once a bull run hits, everyone seems like a genius because they all have wins to brag about. But what about the losses they don’t mention? The duds that never took off? That’s where the HCL comes in. It helps you trust the collective wisdom over the lone voice. It’s about finding those coins that have real potential for solid, maybe even spectacular returns. Let’s cut through the noise and make choices that count. With the HCL, you’re not just following hype; you’re betting on informed consensus.
